Sportradar Group AG has agreed to sell Atrium Sports, the coaching and scouting arm of its Synergy Sports business, to Teamworks Innovations for $170 million in cash. The agreement, signed on 6 October 2026, lets the Nasdaq-listed sports-technology group concentrate on its core betting, gaming and media operations. The transaction is the clearest sign yet that Sportradar sees team-facing analytics as peripheral to its betting-data business.
What happened
Under the deal, Teamworks Innovations will buy 100% of Atrium Sports Inc, the operator of Sportradar’s Synergy Sports coaching and scouting business, which Sportradar acquired in March 2021 . The transaction is structured as an all-cash sale, with Sportradar agreeing to sell its Atrium Sports business for $170 million in cash .
Sportradar is not walking away from every piece of the unit it built. The company will retain the technology that underpins its own commercial products, including automated video production cameras, automated graphics solutions, certain computer vision capabilities, and competition management products , along with the revenue those tools already generate inside the core business.
Sportradar has described the price as favourable relative to its own shares. The transaction represents an accretive double-digit EBITDA multiple relative to Sportradar’s market valuation . Chief executive Carsten Koerl said the move optimizes and streamlines our business as the company sharpens its focus on betting, gaming and media, adding that proceeds will further strengthen our balance sheet and support capital allocation priorities . The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary conditions.
Why it matters
The Sportradar Atrium Sports sale fits a pattern among sports-data and betting-technology groups of trimming adjacent businesses that do not feed directly into sportsbook and casino operators. Team-facing coaching and scouting tools serve leagues, federations and athletic departments, a customer base with little overlap with the operators who license Sportradar’s odds, streaming and integrity products.
For operators and suppliers tracking the stability of their data partners, the divestiture signals capital discipline rather than distress. Sportradar is choosing to bank a premium valuation on a non-core unit while its own stock trades at a lower multiple, using the proceeds to reinforce its balance sheet. That matters to sportsbooks that depend on Sportradar for live odds and risk management, since a tighter corporate focus typically means more investment directed at the products operators actually use.
Teamworks gains a business leading team-side analytics platform for baseball and basketball , positioning it to expand further into professional and collegiate sport technology, a market increasingly separate from the betting-data supply chain that Sportradar now says is its priority.
The bigger picture
The sale lands as the wider gambling-stock sector heads into third-quarter earnings under mixed sentiment. Analysts at Macquarie have flagged a Gaming Industry Setup Likely Positive Heading Into Earnings Season , even as shares across the sector have slipped over the past month. Against that backdrop, Sportradar’s willingness to divest a unit at an accretive multiple suggests management is prioritising balance-sheet strength over diversification into adjacent sports-technology markets.
The Sportradar Atrium Sports deal also sits alongside a broader run of portfolio reshaping across the supply side of the industry this year, from supplier consolidation to shareholder-approved acquisitions such as the recently completed Bally’s and Intralot move to finalise their evoke acquisition. Both cases point to the same commercial logic: companies narrowing their focus to the segments regulators and operators value most, while offloading units that no longer fit the core betting and gaming strategy.
